About MILIEU CENTER, THE
The Milieu Center opened its doors to the public in December 2007. Since then, we have more than doubled the number of clients that we serve. Our program is a day treatment program for adults ages 18-59 that are dually diagnosed with a mental illness and developmental disability. The philosophy of The Milieu Center is that all persons, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, can benefit from an environment that meets and supports their individual social, emotional, cognitive, physical, developmental and medical needs. We promote the principles of "normalization" and "least restrictive environment" by teaching the skills and abilities needed to successfully reside in the community and work in an area of personal choice. We strongly value the inclusion and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
