About Adult Life Programs, Inc.- Maiden Site

Adult Life Programs is a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) that began in 1983 in a Sunday school classroom at Corinth Church in Hickory, North Carolina. Much has changed over the years, but Adult Life Programs’ Board of Directors has remained committed to the mission: To provide support, respite and education to caregivers and affordable, quality day and treatment services enabling adults to remain in their communities. The rural setting is what sets Adult Life Programs’ Maiden Center apart. Located at the Catawba Valley Baptist Church off Buffalo Shoals Road, the Maiden Center is the only center in a rural area of Catawba County. In operation since 2002, the center is licensed for 24 participants and consistently maintains good attendance. This use of adult day care in a rural setting is a testimonial to the widespread need for adult day care in our community. Participants have a wide range of needs and the Maiden Center’s focus is to concentrate on their day-to-day necessities and activities. Daily activities include visits from community volunteers, pet therapy, exercise, mental stimulation activities, cooking, music, crafts and one of the favorites at the Maiden Center, “porch sitting” and visiting.
