Adult day health care is the signature program of AGE of Central Texas, and is available at AGE's headquarters location in Central Austin and in Round Rock. The only two licensed programs of their kind locally, AGE's adult day programs are managed by a professional staff, including a nurse who is onsite at all times. AGE's staff specializes in Alzheimer's and memory loss care, as well as in creating a community-oriented atmosphere where older adults interact with their peers. Participants take part in activities such as music, crafts, games, and conversation. Adult day health care provides a safe daytime environment for seniors who cannot stay at home alone safely during the day due to cognitive or physical health needs. AGE’s Adult Day Centers provide a vibrant and social community for aging adults to enjoy their day while receiving the care and support they need. At the same time, they offer caregivers a break from caregiving duties while knowing that their loved one is in good hands. With the support of adult day health services, these older adults who require support are able to continue living in their homes or with their families. Adult day care is an affordable care option, without sacrificing the expert care or vibrant community older adults should have. The seniors we serve have needs ranging from dementia, diabetes, social isolation or depression, disability due to stroke, Parkinson’s, or general frailty and physical dependence. Staffed by skilled professionals, including nurses, certified nursing assistants, activity directors, and program aides, AGE’s adult day care provides high-quality care for seniors. Staff members are specially trained in senior health issues, and work closely with the families in the care of the member who attends.
