The Dickson Senior Center is owned and operated by the City of Dickson. The Senior Center was built in 1977, additions were added in 1980, 1991 and 1999. This agency serves anyone 60 years of age and older. There is no membership fee; however volunteer donations are always welcome. The Senior Center is a “multi-purpose center” and is considered the “Community Focal Point” for services for older residents in Dickson County. This distinction is given to Senior Center’s where other services, such as transportation and nutrition services are housed within the center, but provided and operated by other agencies. Several activities are offered throughout each month, and are listed in our monthly newsletter. Newsletters are available to anyone on the last Thursday evening of each month, for the upcoming month. The Dickson Senior Center began offering an Adult Day Program in March of 1999. This program allows families who care for their aging family members to continue on with their day to day lives and offers relief to the primary caregiver. This program is geared toward Alzheimer’s patients and other brain like dysfunctions, but not limited to this. Our Adult Day Program has a very structured schedule for the day including lots of arts and crafts, physical fitness, current affairs and field trips. Lunch and two snacks are provided each day. The fee for this service is based on the client’s income, fees range from $10 to $30 per day. When someone brings a family member to our facility, we want them to leave feeling secure in the fact that they have left their loved one in a safe and loving environment.
