Ageless Harmony was first started in 1998, when President and Founder, Erin Pettit, LPN, was faced with the task of juggling a career and caring for her special needs mother. As a nurse for 25 years, Erin was familiar with the options available for senior day care, but felt all were lacking the home-like, family-friendly atmosphere she desired. Now the proud owner of 3 locations in Berks County, Erin continues to serve Berks County’s special needs seniors on a daily basis. Each facility provides a dynamic schedule for the senior citizen who is in need of assistance and direction in daily living. A professional, certified staff provides 2 snacks and a hot meal daily. Socialization and communication is stressed by the various activities and programs offered. Structured activities may include discussion groups, intergenerational gatherings, music therapy, pet therapy, movies and music, live entertainment, bingo, dancing, card games, arts and crafts, and birthday/holiday celebrations. Additionally, Speech and Occupational Therapy can be arranged, as well as podiatry and beautician services, all taking yet another responsibility off the agenda of a busy caregiver. The most important service provided by Ageless Harmony is the warmth and friendship generated at each center. Each and every staff member is truly concerned with each client’s well being and understands their medical history and specific areas which need improvement. Many families find their loved ones much improved due to the social interaction and stimulation, which keeps their minds and spirits sharp. Scheduling is flexible as one may require care every weekday, or just benefit from a few days a week. Caring for a parent is just as stressful as raising a child, and a break is needed sometimes for both the caregiver and senior.
