About Holland Enrichment Center (Primarily Serves the MR Population)

At the Holland Enrichment Center, instructors work with clients to develop vital life skills that will enable them to function more independently and interact more fully with the world around them. This program is specifically designed for adults with more severe intellectual or physical disabilities, which often result in challenges in the workplace. We provide a full-time program that includes individually tailored skill building as well as socialization and fun. There are currently eighteen groups at Holland created based on interest and ability, each group averages a total of seven clients and a team of staff. Group classifications include, advanced skills, work and pre-work readiness, functional pre-academic, sensory awareness, and communications. A typical day at Holland begins at about 9:30 a.m., clients socialize and greeting one another, then begin working on both group and individual activities. After lunch clients participate in outdoor activities – weather permitting – and finally clients participate in a series of regular programs, such as music class, movie time, swimming, and physical and / or occupational therapy before returning to their residences at 3 p.m. Holland also offers a Seniors Program for clients who have reached retirement age. The program provides opportunities to share in a variety of activities each day, ranging from arts and crafts, to self-help skills, to exercise. Our seniors also enjoy free time when they can pursue individual interests. With our senior population we strive to maintain skill levels and provide an opportunity for a busy yet relaxed day.
