The Orutsararmiut Native Council Mission Statement: To promote the general welfare, enchance independence, encourage self-sufficency/self-motivation, enhance the quality of life, preserve cultural and traditional values of the Tribe, and to exercise Tribal Authority over resources through, educational, economic and social development opportunities. With this mission statement in mind the ONC Council and its Administration is working to do its best job to serve its membership to the best of its ability. ONC’s goal is to provide services to the community of Bethel and the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Region as a whole. The services provided are outlined in the PL 93-638, a law provided by the Federal Government to utilize Indian self determination by its membership. ONC has the ability and capacity to lead in numerous aspects of governance and it can lead other communities and influence them to become better governing organizations in their respective locations. The key to success is to network with people, agencies and other communities that impact our lives on a daily basis. We must learn and discern the activities and pull the best out of each situation and move forward to become a better community.
