Chenal Adult Day Center is a home and community-based non-profit that has been caring for families since 2006. Founded to offer an option to nursing home placement Chenal Adult Day Center has become one of Little Rock’s most respected Adult Day Center’s. The non-profit organization has the philosophy of helping keep adult family members at home and in the community. Chenal Adult Day Center offers financial aid assistance to those in need. Founder and Director Lynda Sikes, Master’s level Speech-Language Pathologist opened Chenal Adult Day Center in the Spring of 2006 to assist the Elder Population in Little Rock and the surrounding area. Offering a safe daytime environment rich in socialization, fellowship and friendships, meals and snacks, activities, medication management, and assistance with ADL’s. The program is based on keeping skills and abilities functioning as high as possible in each individual that attends the Center. Tasks, games and handcrafts not only work on fine-motor control and dexterity but address skills such as attending to task, following directions, categorization and organization. We relate to the clients practicing validation therapy, which involves listening and reflecting the clients statement and feelings and redirect in a positive fashion when necessary. In the Spring of 2008, the Center was able to acquire a home in West Little Rock, off of Chenal Parkway. This new location enables the Center to offer quiet surroundings to our residents with access to our beautiful backyard in a secure, safe environment.
