XANADU AMDC was established in 2009 to prevent delay of unnecessary/ premature institutionalization of persons who: Are age 18 and older (Medicaid/HMO participant); Are age 16 and older (Private pay) and reside in the community; Are at risk of institutionalization due to a dementia related to Alzheimer’s Disease, similar disorders, developmental disability or cerebral pathology; Require less than twenty-four hour care. To achieve this objective, XANADU AMDC provides a 160-slot adult day care program that enables cognitively impaired persons to function at their maximum and strengthens their family caregivers’ abilities and coping skills.
