About Adelante Compadres Senior Center

Many years ago, Adelante found it imperative to begin addressing the needs of our aging population and created services that support the needs of seniors. Adelante felt there were too few options to families who wanted to avoid nursing homes for their loved ones, and would prefer more flexible, community-based services. Today, Adelante provides respite, part-time and as needed services for elders at the Compadres Senior Center conveniently located in Albuquerque’s northeast heights. On-site activities at Compadres are focused on the three activities proven to help seniors maintain their mental and physical abilities – fine arts, gardening, and fitness. Compadres includes group and individual activities like computers, low-impact exercise, music, movies, games, working in the onsite garden, fine arts, crafts, seasonal activities, and books or newspapers read by staff. Compadres also offers lots of activities in the community like visiting community centers, shopping, and attending cultural and recreational events. Medication assistance and some nursing services are also available, and like all Adelante sites, Compadres is staffed by caring people who have been trained carefully and who have passed background checks. Adelante currently accepts DD Waiver funding in addition to private pay seniors. Pricing for private pay begins at $8.50 per hour, but is dependent on the needs of the senior to be supported. The agency has also been approved for COLTS-C and should be able to accept that funding soon.
