About New York Memory Center - Park Slope

New York Memory Center was founded in 1983 under the name Park Slope Geriatric Day Center. We are a freestanding, nonprofit, community-based agency providing services to adults with cognitive, physical, and emotional limitations to help them enjoy life beyond diagnosis of memory loss. Through our innovative wellness center, New York Memory Center meets the needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia disorders and their caregivers. We operate two programs for those with memory loss: the Lotus Club, an early intervention and support program for those experiencing the earliest stages of Alzheimer’s and related dementias, and Memory Life Services, a program that provides more extensive services suitable for adults in the community with middle to later stage memory loss. Our mission is to help older adults in our community with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias to maintain and/or improve their level of functioning so they can enjoy their later years. We believe that human beings, regardless of age or degree of impairment, can benefit from continuing to participate in the life of a community where they are accepted and have opportunities to experience a sense of purpose and success. Our members are not pressured to be anyone they are not, and they are encouraged to be everything they can.
